Escape at Bedtime,
Luster Vessel 820 (11")
by Paul J. Katrich, inspired by
the Robert Louis Stevenson poem.

"I have always loved the poetry of
Robert Louis Stevenson, especially
A Child's Garden of Verses.

"This vase was a component of my solo
exhibition in New York City, in 2004.
The text of Escape at Bedtime
best explains the theme."

Escape at Bedtime

by Robert Louis Stevenson

The lights from the parlour and kitchen shone out
       Through the blinds and the windows and bars;
And high overhead and all moving about,
There were thousands of millions of stars.
There ne'er were such thousands of leaves on a tree,
Nor of people in church or the Park,
As the crowds of the stars that looked down upon me,
And that glittered and winked in the dark.

The Dog, and the Plough, and the Hunter, and all,
And the star of the sailor, and Mars,
These shown in the sky, and the pail by the wall
Would be half full of water and stars.
They saw me at last, and they chased me with cries,
       And they soon had me packed into bed;
But the glory kept shining and bright in my eyes,
And the stars going round in my head.

A Personal Note from the Artist

"In response to frequent requests, we are pleased to
make these fine art, photographic prints available to collectors.
Many of you have noted and admired examples of
these images as a component of our show displays.

"These prints are beautifully photographed and formatted by
George A. Lees. The detail photographs offer an
intimate view of my pottery and glazes, that is
most unique. They are brilliant in color,
and dramatic in concept. The prints may be framed
and displayed to great advantage, as I have seen
in the homes of many of my patrons.

"The prints are presented on fine paper with
archival pigment inks, 13 inches by 19 inches in size.
The image size is approximately 11 inches by 16 inches.

"Each print is hand-signed in the border by the artists,
ceramist Paul J. Katrich and photographer George A. Lees.
